Background Information

Project Team

Client: ADMA-OPCO
Main Contractor: Ekspan
Start Date: July 2012
Completion Date: August 2012

Over two hundred structural supports were inspected on fifty five bridges, on various structures, in the Zakum & Umm Shaif fields, which lie 80km & 160km offshore respectively, during July & August 2012.
The results of the findings were transferred into conditional reports that highlighted current functionality by means of a risk ranking system. The project close out presentation took place at an offshore structural integrity workshop event, in Abu Dhabi in April 2013, and focused on the findings of the inspections and future maintenance considerations.

As a specialist contractor with a presence in the North Sea, this specific project for Ekspan represents a major step forward in demonstrating global capability in the Middle East. The inspection element of the project was particularly challenging with the works being carried out during the height of the summer season, with daily temperatures in excess of 450C and humidity at 70-80%.

As a result of the final presentation, Ekspan has seen an increase in enquiries from Middle East operators & contractors for products and technical services.
