We offer a comprehensive range of bearings (standards and specials) and structural products (such as pipe guides and grips) for use on bridges and any application where there is movement, rotational or anti-vibration requirements between supports. Application examples include bridges, pipeline and ductwork, buildings, offshore platforms and heavy large machinery.
A bearing inspection service, carried out by experienced engineers, serves to evaluate current performance and residual function. From this a full evidential report can be provided with recommendations made where necessary.
Products We Supply
We supply and install mechanical expansion joints for roads, rails, car parks, bridges and buildings. Our products are suitable where movement ranges between 0 to 3000mm.
Ekspan’s joints protect the bridge deck and the bearings below. Joints are usually positioned at the highest point of deck stress where the deck load is carried to foundations through the bearing.
The modern bridge builder can be assured that Ekspan is a name in which one can place total trust – knowing that a well fitted watertight joint will prevent deck wetting, spalling and structural failure.
Ekspan’s expansion seals can provide secondary back-up to a new joint or provide a solution to existing leaking installations. By collecting and allowing the water to flow away from the sensitive area, our seals help prevent damage.
Our range of seals can be used on roads, rails, car parks, bridges, leaking expansion joints, pedestrian walk-ways, wall joints, as parapet and surface seals, and as flood defence seals.
Water, in the form of seepage penetrating the road surfacing or condensation, can collect on the top of the waterproof membrane on bridge decks. Humidity and temperature variations can cause vapour pressure to build up within concrete structures under the waterproof membrane. If water is left unattended, this can lead to problems, and in some cases the damage may be so great that it is irreversible. Hence the need for drainage systems for most structures.
Ekspan 300 series sub-surface drainage systems are specifically designed to prevent problems caused by poor drainage and so eliminating any costly repairs or replacements.
